Impact story

The learning center also allows us to employ people in our community, providing work and income for families during a challenging time in our local economy. Daily interactions allow us to invest deeply in our employees’ lives and families. One of our employees *Noya, has shown interest in knowing more about the Father. She is a young single woman in her early 20s. Her older sister, *Thip, also works with us. We have been asking that both of their hearts would be softened toward Him. They live with their dad and help care for him as their mother passed away a few years ago from an unknown illness. Both sisters are hard workers who work with us during the week and then tend to their tea garden during the weekend for extra income. They are both from the Kaliap people group. They have grown up speaking the national language alongside their ethnic minority language. They have been an enormous help at the learning center and are always willing to learn something new and, in turn, pass along their wisdom to us. Since December, I have been sharing Father’s story with Noya, starting with Creation and slowly building a foundation of knowing who our Father is and His promise of a Helper through many Old Testament stories. I have shared more than 20 stories over the past six weeks. Hearing her thoughts and questions as she engages with the Word has been very encouraging. She is reading the Bible for the first time in her language. After reading about Joshua and our Father’s promise that He would never leave him but be with him wherever he goes, she looked at me and said, “That’s like you. Our Father is with you wherever you go. Whether you are here or in America, He is with you, and you never have to be afraid.” I was humbled and blown away that our Father was using this young woman, new to reading His Word, to remind me of truth and speak the words of life I needed to hear. And how amazing it is that she recognizes that the Father of the Old Testament is still the same Father today! Next week we will begin sharing about the birth of Jesus and His life here on earth. Please pray with us that she will continue to be open to the truth and one day believes in His finished work for her. We would love to welcome her and her sister into the family of believers! We know that stepping out and believing something different from your family and community is extremely difficult here. It can bring shame and rejection, which is devastating in such a communal and interdependent culture. Yet we know the hope, love, joy, and peace a relationship with the Father gives is much greater in this life and eternity. Please join us in lifting up these sisters and ask that their whole family would come to know and believe in Him.

Front-line Testimony

Your generous gift has allowed us to transform a run-down hotel into a functioning learning center in the heart of our community. We are running our second term of classes and have about 50 students ranging from 7 to 36 years old. Our current students include the following:
Elementary and high-school students.
Business professionals.
Local and provincial government employees.
This center allows us to build relationships with a wide range of community members while meeting practical educational needs in an area that lacks these resources.
